Most of Charlotte's free time was often spent in one of three places; her bedroom, where she read books, played with her pets and/or watching movie after movie. The grounds, she would often be found wondering around the large area surrounding Warden. Taking time to explore the forest, finding secert hiding places and new things to paint. And finally, her favorite place to go, was the roof. She'd often go up at night, at sunrise or sunset. The sight of the millions of stars above her was her favorite. She'd come up with a blanket and her CD player, blast Coldplay and watch the stars until she drifted to sleep. She never seemed to have nightmares when she slept on the roof...As of now, Charlotte could be found standing near the edge of the roof. Her hair flapping around her as a cool breeze picked up, the fabric of her dress rippling against her skin.
The view was magnifcent from up here, the sun setting behind the few clouds that took up the multicolored sky. Her lips turned up in a tiny smile. Charlotte had been beyond happy lately, she'd been prescriped pills to help with the settling in depression and she'd been trying her best to stay busy lately. Maybe she was getting better, bit by bit...well, that's what she kept telling herself. She was ignoring the fact that she would suddenly wake up in the middle of the night, feeling scared and out of breath. She knew she wasn't remembering the nightmares, but she was having them...but she refused to acknowledge any of it. Who knew, maybe she'd go home in a few months time...but she knew that wouldn't happen, as much as she would like to believe she would, she wouldn't.
The truth about the whole situation scared Charlotte. Her mother was afraid of her, and her brother had been sent away to boarding school. She wasn't all that sure why her mother was so afraid of her, maybe it was how she didn't at all hesitat to shot the strangers...maybe it was the episodes she'd first had before being sent to Warden. The violent episodes, she'd kick and swear at the nurses as they tried to hold her down onto the bed. The conversations she'd have with the invisable friend late at night, when she thought no one was listnening. Charlotte's family knew it, the doctors knew it...but Charlotte herself was denying the fact that maybe she was far more damanged then she'd let herself to believe. Maybe she'd always been on the road to insanity, the shooting just triggered it sooner...but she refused to think about it, all she wanted on her mind right now was 'see you soon'by coldplay and the sight of the beautiful sunset before her.

It's not like he had anything better to do, right. Locked up in this stupid school because he blew up another school? Big deal... he guessed, but nobody here knew that he had done that, not eve the staff which made everything a little more interesting. He glared as he walked through the hallways past 'bedtime' hours and worked on making it to the roof. Ever since he had come here, he had found the roof, to be one of his favorite spots, why? Because in the end, it was what made him closest to his sisters. To know that they could be looking at the same sky as him, while they were behaving hopefully in a household that treated them right. He could only hope that though, he wished for it, but he never had much luck his whole life.
So he moved to the roof wondering what this whole school like would be able this year, would it change drastically, would he get in more fights. Would people finally leave him alone after he bashed that one kids face in? Duncan didn't know... he didn't know anything about this stupid damn school, because he didn't want to. It was lame a waste of his time, but maybe it might keep him out of jail... he might be able to get into college and get a good job and have money and maybe find his sisters one day. But those were all maybes' and very unlikely at that. His whole life was just a maybe and unlikely unless it had to do with something bad. Was it really down to what fate had in store for him? Because if so, his life would suck horribly, he had no religion.
Finally getting up to the roof he sighed, the cool air immediately hitting his face, he smiled in delight at it. No one would see it, so he could do it, at first he really didn't see anyone on the roof, so he walked out and started to stare up at the sky, but for some reason, he looked down towards the edge of the roof, and there was a small body just standing on the edge, blonde locks waving in the wind. It was a girl, and she was quite tiny, he kind of liked that, but it's not like he would say anything or admit it. Walking over to her he smirked and stood behind her looking up at the sky. "If the wind picked up anytime soon, you'd fall right off the edge, I hope you know." He said, his face completely straight and serious, he didn't show emotions around people, no matter what his underlying feeling was.

As would be expected, Charlotte found herself drifting up up and away to her dreamland, her eyes closed and arms crossed over her chest. Swaying back and forth with the wind, the sweet voice of Chris Martin playing loudly in her ears. She had drifted off to her world. The land of Lottie, was a complicated one. It always changing, the skies never the same. Today, the sky looked nothing at all like a typical clear blue sky, but overhead was a pink, purple and blue nebula. The vast amount of stars creating a heavenly glow, the atmosphere calm and peaceful. The world a seemingly endless field of willow trees, green green grass and flower after flower. Daises, iris', lilies...the list went on and on. Despite the fact that this world, her world, was simply a frigment of her imagination she found herself being able to smell the sweet ocean water, she could feel the long grass tickling her bare ankles. Perhaps it was just the wind, or her mind was twisting reality to fit whatever was going on in her mind.
At first, Charlotte didn't hear anyone join her on the roof. She stood were she was, still swaying slightly and her eyes still closed, music still playing...but when he spoke, she jumped. She hadn't been expecting anyone, she never expected anyone...of all the times she'd been up here, she'd never encountered another one of the students before. Perhaps people had been here when she'd be sitting behind one of contraptions on the roof, and hadn't noticed but still...At first, she said nothing. Her eyes simply running over the very tall male before her. She wasn't sure why, but she felt a little scared...rarely was she alone with strangers of his size.
Finally, she managed to compose herself and forced a tiny nervous smile. "Yes, well I'm small but...not small enough for the wind to carry me away,
her smile disappearing upon noticing the male's straight face. Sometimes she did wish she was small enough to be carried away on the wind. She'd be able to escape Worden, find her way back home and...but it was only a dream, and that was all it would ever be. She cleared her throat, just darting her eyes from the ground to his face awkwardly, which she had to admit was rather handsome, his eyes esspecially....With no idea what to say, she turned her back to him, stepping closer to the edge of the roof once more and peering down at the landscape. A more upbeat song started to play, and any thoughts of her dreamland slipped away as they were replaced by mental images which accompanied the song to her liking. In the case of viva la vida she found herself imainging crashing cymbals, red paint and the feet moving beneath her feet... He shook his head at the girl while walking over to a stoop that was behind them both away from her and the edge of the roof. "You never know... the world throws crazy things at people sometimes." He smirked and closed his eyes wondering what the world and life would throw at him, now that he was here in this Asylum... with no one to protect but himself. He missed his siblings and thats the only thing that kept him determined. He wanted to make sure that in the end he could save them from being torn apart. He looked up into the night sky and smiled inwardly, it was quite an amazing site, but he would never admit that to anyone but himself. "You are seriously tiny, I'm pretty sure you could be picked up right off this roof." Duncan looked back to the girl and raised an eyebrow while smirking at her.
For some reason he wanted to converse, he didn't know why, because he wasn't a social person at all, but maybe it was all the missing of his siblings that he just wanted someone to talk to. Just this once, it would be okay for him to talk to someone with out hurting them. Duncan looked away from the girl afterwards and looked around the roof while grunting, there of course was no one there, which he liked, but he was slightly angered at the fact that people would miss out on seeing such a beautiful sky.
This wasn't something he got to see often, if people asked him why he'd say because the lights where he lived blocked out all the sky's creations. But here... no lights where on and it was just the moonlight and the stars that lit up the world around them. It was nice, the cool wind that pressed against his skin, made him relax more. He just wished that his siblings could be looking at the same sky as he was, the same moon and stars. It made him feel connected to them, he was sure they were still there, and that made him happy. A small smile appeared on his lips, but once his eyes averted back to the girl, the smile disappeared. "So.. what's your reason for being up here? Couldn't sleep? A monster under your bed or something?" He laughed slightly as he closed his eyes, doing his best to keep his mind off of what he had lost and just determined to get back to it.

Charlotte nodded, despite the fact that she felt slightly imtemidated and afraid of the large male, she agreed with him. You never knew what the world would throw at you. Just before coming here, she seemed normal...enough, she didn't seem as crazy or insane as she was now. She was as content as one could be with her boring repatitive life. The only thing that remotely ever seemed different, were her paintings. Each painting was significantly different in it's own way, but unfortunaly, it also had many signs of similarity. The brush strokes, stranger color palates and unique takes on simple objects, people and places. Well she only had blips in her old life which fell off the radar, it was always the same. Wake up, make tea and spend an half an hour watching a F.R.I.E.N.D.S episode, then brush her hair and get dressed in something sweet, before making her lunch, waking her siblings before she went off to catch the transit bus for school. From there it was the same classes, same doodles on her pages. The same lunch and the same attempts to have conversations with her now distant friends. Finally, she'd return home to a chore or two, occasional homework and then a night of sheer bliss. Well, persay. She wasn't sure if watching movies, tea and listening to dreamy music was considered blissful to many people...but at the time, it was hers. Now she wasn't sure what happiness anymore, she hadn't felt legitamly happy in some time now. Sure, she felt calm when painting or other times...but never happy.
She glanced hestiantly at her male before dropping her eyes to the concrete ground again, arms over her chest. "I'm not that tiny..."
her voice meak and quiet compared to his, confident and strong. She truly did feel afraid of him...but somehow the serenity of the landscape and sky around them seemed to overpower her feeling of insecurity. It was weird, how such beauty had the ability to bring together too people who appear to be so different, but the world worked in very mysterious ways...most of the time, at least. Charlotte looked at her feet well he spoke, looking up at him with a shrug and silent answer, at first. "I just felt like coming up here, I like the view.. It was a partial lie, yes she did come up here for her love of the view, but, she was having trouble sleeping...each time she did her vision would be overtaken by the most horrific of creatures, twisting into her vision and taking over her dreams... "So uhm...why are you up here...?". [/blockquote][/blockquote] word count436 outfit here only the dress would be plain pink. tag Alisha/Duncan! <3
