 The light has fallen, and darkness surrounds us; there is nowhere safe to turn – even Hogwarts might not be the haven that it once was. Sirius Black is dead, and Voldemort has returned. The events of last summer at the ministry have been widespread, and Fudge has had no choice but to resign in the face of his mistakes. Apologies have been made to both Harry and Dumbledore for the rubbish that the Daily Prophet had spouted for the entirety of the last year, but that’s no consolation to them – they are preparing for a perilous ending, and the search for the horcruxes is beginning. Harry returns to Hogwarts for his sixth year, with Ron and Hermione and they begin to study for their NEWTs; all the while overarching their studies is the knowledge that soon the battle will come, soon there will be a climatic ending to their story, but which way will it go. Draco Malfoy has a task to do, a task handed to him by the highest authority, will he succeed in his mission or will he fall from favour like his father? Ginny Weasley still not over her childhood crush on Harry Potter is waiting for him to see her, and notice her feelings. As the complexity of the relationships between the student grows, the tension mounts and soon light and dark will collide. Which side do you stand on?
